SRT Viper Track Pack news and pictures

The SRT Viper gains a circuit-focused Track Pack option, with stronger brakes and a shaved kerbweight

SRT has revealed a Track Pack option for its new Viper. The Track Pack improves the Viper’s braking system by replacing the current discs with curved Brembo items, allowing the air to work its way outwards, cooling the surface of the disc. This upgrade is designed to work on the track when stopping from speeds over 100mph, so when using the car at sensible road speeds, no advantage will be held over the standard Viper. This new brake setup saves 15kg of unsprung weight. Combined with the use of lightweight wheels and track orientated Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres (saving another 13kg), the Track Pack sheds nearly 30kg from the current Viper GTS’s 1521kg kerbweight. The engine remains the same as the standard Viper, meaning an 8.4-litre V10 that produces 640bhp and 600lb ft. Thanks to its minor weight loss, and sticky Pirellis, the Track Pack should shave a tenth or two from the standard Viper’s 3.5sec 0-60mph time. SRT is yet to release any pictures or firm spec details of the Viper Track Pack (the standard car is pictured here), but it is likely to command a slight premium over the standard car. Since the only major upgrade to the car is the combination of its new brakes and tyres, it is unlikely that the Track Pack will gain major visual changes.
