New Fisker Ronin: 1000bhp convertible electric GT to cost $385,000

Fisker’s revival will continue with a striking drop-top grand tourer with hypercar performance and a $385,000 price tag

As the all-electric era draws near, new car brands are emerging to capitalise on this seismic shift in technology, but Fisker is a familiar name. Led by former Aston Martin designer Henrik Fisker, the California-based firm already dipped its toes in the premium EV segment with the Karma GT car in 2012, and now, it’s re-entering the space with this: the Ronin.

Conceived as part of a product plan that will see Fisker offering a five-strong line-up of EVs by 2026, the Ronin is a four-door electric grand tourer with seating for five and cutting edge powertrain technology, with three electric motors generating over 1000bhp. Just 999 will be built, with first deliveries commencing in the latter half of 2025.

Given its colossal power output, the Ronin is expected to complete the 0-60mph sprint in as little as 2sec, running on to a top speed of 170mph. More importantly for the Ronin’s brief as a true GT car, Fisker is targeting a range of over 600 miles for the new EV; this is made possible by a new battery layout which integrates the cells into the car’s aluminium space frame structure. There’s no word on a projected kerbweight for the Ronin, but we’re promised that lightweight materials will be used in its construction – including 23-inch carbonfibre wheels.

The Ronin’s design is just as space-age as the projected specs, with a smooth, shrink-wrapped body shell and a folding hard-top roof for open-air motoring – unheard of in this segment. Its four doors swing upwards with butterfly hinges to provide access to the cabin, which features recycled materials and a vast 17.1-inch infotainment screen. Despite a raft of driver assists, Fisker has engineered the Ronin to deliver an engaging experience from behind the wheel, while also offering the luggage space you might expect from a saloon rather than a traditional GT.

Given that the Ronin is being built to showcase the full might of Fisker’s design and engineering capabilities, it won’t come cheap; prices start from $385,000 (c£302,500). Customers can place a $2000 deposit to secure one of the 999 units.
