2024 Range Rover gains 607bhp SV model and new personalisation options

Land Rover has introduced stronger powertrains and a raft of SV Bespoke personalisation options for the 2024 Range Rover, which is on sale now from £103,720

Having launched in 2022, the latest Range Rover is still hot off the production line, but that hasn’t stopped Land Rover from refining one of the best luxury SUVs of the moment. For 2024, the Range Rover will receive a smattering of powertrain and engineering upgrades alongside new personalisation options, courtesy of the firm’s SV (Special Vehicles) division. Sitting at the top of the tree, the Range Rover SV has received an electrified V8 with 607bhp, making it the most powerful model in the company’s history.

Electrification now features across the board, with the Range Rover’s BMW-sourced 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 employing mild-hybrid tech for the first time. The system recoups energy while decelerating, which can then be deployed under power and also to smooth out the car’s start/stop functionality. The result is improved efficiency and increased outputs of 607bhp and 553lb ft in the flagship Range Rover SV, which is all but certain to share its powertrain with the forthcoming Range Rover Sport SV.

Further down the range, plug-in hybrid Range Rovers have adopted a more powerful 215bhp electric motor for improved performance, which we expect to be particularly noticeable in EV mode (Land Rover quotes a 5-second quicker 0-62mph time when running on electric power alone). Combined with the firm’s 3.0-litre Ingenium straight-six in the P460e, total power stands at 454bhp, with the P550e generating 542bhp; those are uplifts of 20bhp and 39bhp, respectively. Up to 59 miles of EV range should be possible, but with the system at full thrust the P550e can reach 62mph in 5sec – half a second quicker than before.

Beyond the engine upgrades, Land Rover is offering a raft of new personalisation options through its SV Bespoke service, available with Autobiography and SV models. Customers are invited to spec their Range Rover at the brand’s Bespoke Commissioning Suite in the UK, with a choice of unique paint finishes, interior trims and materials. A selection of 230 exterior colours are available, with 391 different themes for the cabin. In addition, Land Rover can replicate any paint colour that the buyer wishes.

The Range Rover’s Pivi Pro infotainment system is capable of over-the-air updates for continuous software improvements, the latest of which is an improved adaptive cruise control system that preempts the road ahead using the satnav, trimming speed for corners and speed limits more seamlessly.

The 2024 Range Rover also benefits from the Dynamic Response Pro active roll control system that debuted with the latest Sport, helping to keep its considerable mass in check. For off-road use, there’s a new cruise control system that actively adjusts the car’s speed when tackling tricky terrain.
